Firefly offers appointment-free Open Contrast Therapy and a Private Contrast Therapy Room by appointment only. Before your first visit, we'd like to tell you about Firefly and provide you with very important information before starting contrast therapy.
Firefly provides Medical Saunas™ a leader in infrared dry sauna and plunge tub technology. Contrast Therapy is simply exposing your body to both hot and cold environments. Open Contrast Therapy starts with the Medical Saunas™ Spa 9 infrared dry sauna set 150°F that can fit 10-12 people comfortably. Regular sauna use is considered to be at least 20 minutes, but no longer than 30 minutes 3-4 times a week. Those new to hot sauna may need to gradually reach 20 minutes over time. Enjoy a chilled moistened towel after your sauna before starting the second part of your Contrast Therapy.
The second part of your Contrast Therapy takes place in the Tub Room which is equipped with both a cold and hot water Frozen 9™ hybrid plunge tub. Every Frozen 9™ tub is equipped with a Separated Water Purification and 20 Ultra Micron Filter System™ which constantly removes hair, skin cells, and debris but also captures particles as small as dust that are constantly flowing into the water. This ultra micron filter system is so fine that it constantly removes any small particles that flow into the water, keeping our water ultra-clean. Our water is tested daily to ensure we maintain the water safety quality of public hot tubs and jacuzzies.
Hang your towel on the warming racks in the Tub Room for a great reward after your plunge! Enjoy cooling down from the sauna with essential oil diffusion and steam generated by the plunge tubs before plunging. Your safety comes first - always cool down before plunging! Typical time in the Frozen 9™ which is between 55-59°F is 2-5 minutes. Those new to cold-plunge may not be able to meet the 2-minute mark, and that's okay. It takes time to build up your tolerance. Contrast Therapy does not require water temperatures to be in the 30s or 40s°F to achieve the same health benefits, and that's the difference with Firefly's moderate approach to Contrast Therapy.
For those who cannot use infrared sauna, the Frozen 9™ hybrid plunge tubs are perfect for Hydro Contrast Therapy. Hydro Contrast Therapy suggests cold water between 50-59°F and hot water between 95-113°F. Start with the hot tub which is between 100-103°F, cool down, then continue on with the Frozen 9™ cold tub which is between 52-56°F. The typical time ratio for a contrast bath is three to four minutes of heat exposure for every one minute of cold exposure. Contrast therapy sessions usually last 20 to 30 minutes.
Like with all Contrast Therapy, your safety comes first! You must cool down after your hot session before you start your cold session!
Our Private Contrast Therapy Room is equipped with the Medical Saunas™ Spa 3 and your own Frozen 9™ but requires an appointment, so drop-ins are based on room availability only. The Private Contrast Therapy Room Frozen 9™ tub is only set as a cold-water plunge.
